TV-Server Config Wont Start - "Could not connect to <comp name>" (1 Viewer)

Hi guys, I just got a HD receiver for my computer, I installed power dvd 8, the drivers, etc. etc., then MediaPortal which from what I hear is a godsend for this stuff, my packaged software that came with the device doesn't pick up any channels but atm hoping it's because it's god awful (don't know how they got away with shipping it with such software tbh).

Anyway, tried the current stable version and the weekly snapshots both with same results.

I'm following the guide: cranznz - Configuring TV-Server

When I try to start TV-Server Configuration I get the error message 'Could not connect to 0x1' (0x1 is my computer's name). And then it comes up with the config window but if I click on anything that doesn't exit the program I get the error 'TvService is not started' (Note: I've tried doing this manually from admin tools -> services but it's already running!)

Oh and if I turn it off then try again, it just says it's not running, asks if I want to start it, then gives error.

Oh yeah, and the error message wont go away, if I click ok it just comes right back so I have to spam click on Cancel while hitting space bar repeatedly until the click hits in between the error message popping up. Ugh.

Windows Version: Vista Ultimate 64-bit
CPU Type: E6320 dual 2.17ghz (OC'd from 1.86)
HDD: 1x Western Digital @ 300 gig, 1x Seagate @ 160 gig, both 7200RPM sataII
Memory: 2x 2GB Corsair 800mhz (4GB total)
Motherboard: I forgot the model, gigabyte though
Video Card: geforce 8800gt 512mb OCd from 1900-1950mhz memory and 600-650mhz core (with extra cooling)
Video Card Driver: 7.15.11.7516
Sound Card: On board 5.1 Realtek something or other
Sound Card AC3: Ok
Sound Card Driver: 6.0.1.5618
