Hi guys,

Im not having a very good experience trying to setup a tv server(seperate PC in loft). Ive managed to get the service running and clients can connect to it, my problem is very odd. Some days the setup will just work, then i'll reboot and I starts acting strange.

My scenorio is I have a dual usb dvb-t controller and a single usb dvb-s2 controller.
I will launch mp on a client and connect to the BBC HD channel that is only available via my dvb-s2 controller. I will then change channels to a channel that is only available via my dvb-t controllers. I will then change back to the BBC HD channel and I will eventually get a "No Signal" error. I find this very strange as I can watch many channels on the dvb-s2 controller 1 after the other, its only when I access the dvb-t controller that the dvb-s2 controller stops working.

To fix this issue I restart the tv service and all is fine till I once again access a dvb-t station.

I have tried many different hardware configurations.
I currently have in my possession:
1. Prof Revolotion s2-7301 PCI
1. Blackgold BGT3540 PCI-express
1. PEAK Dual dvb-t PCI
1. KWorld usb ub499-2t
1. TBS usb qbox s2

I have attached the log of the process mentioned above and also the tv server log which doesnt seem to be in the zip created by mp debug mode.

Okay, I have some ideas for this issue. First, please install the patch from this post. The reason that I'm asking you to do that is that you have at least one tuner (whatever DVB-T tuner you were using - the PEAK??? - and possibly the kworld as well) that have a single combination filter driver implementation. I suspect that the attempts to connect the combined filter to the QBOX 2 capture filter is screwing up the QBOX 2 graph. That possibly won't make a whole lot of sense, but trust me on this one. Installation instructions are:

1. Stop TV Server.
2. Take a backup of the TVLibrary.dll in your TV Server install folder.
3. Download and extract the TVLibrary.dll from here into your TV Server install folder.
4. Start TV Server.

See how you go after you've installed the patch. If you still have problems then please post fresh logs...

Ok I tried the patched assembly last night, I started the tv service and then tried to watching some live tv on my client.
The client just hung, so I rebooted the client and server.
Everything started working, I could happily browse between the different stations on the all the cards. I have had this before so I still wasnt convinced it was working. I then left it till this morning (about 8hours gap) I then tried using the client again and Im afraid it went back to the same situation. As soon as I browse a dvb-t station, the dvb-s stops working.

Ive attached the server log, which looks like the same error as before.

There is no indication whatsoever as to what the cause might be at that point. Note how long it takes to start running the graph though - something is clearly wrong.

That "RunGraph" call is made directly to the tuner driver. Are you running the most up-to-date drivers from TBS?

If you've looked at the logs then you'll have seen that the EPG scanner was trying to tune to 10729 MHz all night. The first tuning failure occurs about an hour after you go to bed. Do you have access to that transponder?

Even when you are able to use the QBOX it doesn't seem to have very good signal quality:

What is your satellite signal quality like?
What is required to get the QBOX working in MP again?
- restart TV Server service
- restart TV Server computer
- power off TV Server, then power on TV Server
Does the QBOX work in other software when it doesn't work in MP?

My guess is that this is a QBOX driver or signal issue. There is simply no other explanation that would make sense...

What is your satellite signal quality like?
What is required to get the QBOX working in MP again?
- restart TV Server service
- restart TV Server computer
- power off TV Server, then power on TV Server
Does the QBOX work in other software when it doesn't work in MP?

My guess is that this is a QBOX driver or signal issue. There is simply no other explanation that would make sense...

To get the QBOX working again I just need to restart the tvservice. The driver is the latest from the TBS site. In regards to the signal quality, I have a Freesat STB and its worked fine for months.

I have dvbviewer and it seems to work with no problem.

Im gonna have a play with the setup maybe tonight or at the weekend. Will keep you informed.

Hmm, probably means that the only thing required is to rebuild the graph. Does the QBOX work in DVBViewer (for example) when it doesn't work in MP?

Please do keep me "in the loop" - this is an interesting issue and I'd love to get to the bottom of it. It might also be a good idea to raise the issue on the TBS forums. Their developers are very active there, and I've found them to be *the* fastest responding and most helpful tuner manufacturer making cards today...

Ok, ive been trying a few things out.

1. It seems that the fix mm1352000 mentioned has paritall worked (epg would still fail). The problem seems to be with the client PC (acer revo r3610), this particular client would cause the server to stop working (until a service restart). The other clients quite happily work (tested of 3 days)
2. My dvb-t tuner broke, so whilst waiting to get it replaced I tried windows 7. Windows 7 dvb-t works fine just like in xp, the dvb-s2 on the other hand, randomly finds channels during a scan with the familiar error "dvb: LockedInOnSignal could not lock onto channel - no signal or bad signal" in the log.
3. DvbViewer works fine when the mediaportal tvservice fails.

Will keep trying.

Ok after reverting back to windows xp sp3 with all updates applied, heres the scenario:

1. Mediaportal will work, in some cases for a 2-3 days. In other cases the dvb-s2 controller will fail after accessing the dvb-t controller. Same error in log "dvb: LockedInOnSignal could not lock onto channel - no signal or bad signal"
2. Windows 7 has alot more trouble, even the scanning causes the "dvb: LockedInOnSignal could not lock onto channel - no signal or bad signal"
3.Dvbviewer still works when mediaportal tv service requires a restart.
4. There seems to be no pattern to this problem, is just seems very random.
5. My BUSH Freesat receiver works fine

Any ideas
