Iv'e always used a static IP for my standalone installation.
After changing my network settings to obtain IP automatically from my router TV server would not start anymore.
TV server configuration would not start either. I had to put back in the previous static IP to get it working again.
Is this a known issue? Can I run TV server without a static IP?

I don't have access to my logs right now.

    Hi.
AFAIK you can use the SMB name of the TV server PC instead of an IP... But as my MP1 (and for this TV Server) experiences are long ago I can't tell you if this still is the case today.

It is possible to tell the router it should give the server always the same IP. This way you can leave the automatic running but still have the same IP on every start of the server. I've done this for all my wired PC so only wireless devices (Smartphones, Tablets, Laptops,...) are getting variable IP. For me it's the best of both worlds and working flawlessly since many years...

Can I not do that through the configuration now that it's working again since I put back the IP?

How do I know which DB I'm using? Microsoft or MySQL?
Where is the DB file? What tool can I use to edit a Microsoft SQL Server DB?
