tv server system requirements? (1 Viewer)

I havent been able to find the system requirements for the tv server. I currently have dell 1800 server with dual 2.4 zeon processors and 6 gb ram 3 tb disk windows 2008 r2 64 bit. Down side the video card is a radeon ve 16mb. I dont plan on watching anythink on the console of the server just as the tv server. Will the software install and be able to be configured with the low end video card?

You can read the requirements -->here<--. We don't support MS Server operating systems since traditionally they haven't had the infrastructure to support TV tuners (ie. they've been missing BDA). Having said that, quite a few people do use TV Server on server OSes - my understanding is that you just have to patch the OS. Note that analog tuners may not be supported. Search the forums for info and I'm sure you'll find what you need. This thread would be a good place to start.

Regarding the video card issue: if you don't intend to use the server as a client then select the TV Server only option during the server installation process. Video cards don't matter if the MediaPortal front-end is not going to be installed/used on the machine.

Thank you for the response . I plan on using the SiliconDust - HDHomeRun for my tuner but since I have 4 pcs i will be using I like the feature on media portal with the tv server. I will start my install this weekend hopefully I will have good luck.

As far as I'm aware, the HDHomeRun should work fine. Note that we don't support their new Prime CableCard tuner yet though - just the older clear QAM + ATSC one...

I will be only using the over the air digital one. I am dumping sat tv if I can get all this working correctly.. I am looking forward to getting in to it. I have been using windows media center and boxee combo. But it seems I am running in to more and more that boxee can not id correctly.
