Hi. Noobie here.

I'm trying to move away from Win7 Media Center, which is currently configured to play and record Over The Air broadcasts with a SiliconDust HDHomeRun Dual Tuner (uses a network connection).

I have configured the TV Server to see and detect this tuner using the TVServerXBMC plugin v1.2.3.118, and it seems to be working fine.

However, MediaPortal does not seem to be able to recognize it.

I have tried setting the IP Address to that of the HDHomeRun tuner (192.168.1.70) and to the loopback address (127.0.0.1), but I get nothing either way.

I also used the WIKI on Firewall Settings to turn on all required ports, but I still get the blocked port messages.

Which IP Address should I use?

How do I get the HDHomeRun to work in MediaPortal?

I have 2 HDHR's for OTA (ATSC), although I haven't scanned my channels in quite a while, .... I don't have access to my HTPC at this time. I will try to screen grab my settings and talk you through, but it won't be until late.

Looks like I managed to fumble part of it to working. I went back to using 127.0.0.1 (loopback) as the IP address, and now my channels show up in XBMC - but MediaPortal still takes me straight to the TV Settings page.

I can't PLAY anything in XBMC - I can only view the list of stations.

The XBMC plugin is not compatable with MediaPortal.... Use MP TV-Server Config to set up the TV Server for MediaPortal. I do not know how to set up TV Server for XBMC, maybe someone else can shed some light on that.

These screens are from MP 1.3 Beta, but I don't think they changed all that much from MP 1.2.3

Your Server name is the name of the computer that TV-Server is installed on. (2 pics show my card settings). This is a single seat setup on Win XP MCE.

Scan the first HDHR tuner: for OTA do not check "Tune QAM instead..."

    Clipboard03.jpg

Rename the Channels from the scanned names if needed using "Edit" for each channel. Delete any "unknown" channels that may come up in scanning, or preview the channel to verify.

    Clipboard04.jpg

In TV Mapping, move all the "Available channels" to "Channels mapped to card". Do this for each HDHR tuner.

EPG grabber is disabled for all channels. I use Schedules Direct for my EPG listings using the SchedulesDirect plugin for TV-Server. There are also scrapers to provide EPG in the US, but I'm not familiar with them... do a search of the forum for those.

In MediaPortal Config. Make sure the TV Server Host name is the name of your Server used in TV-Server Config, or the address of the Computer that TV-Server is installed on.

Pretty much all that is needed to get ATSC using the HDHomeRun.

First, thank you very much for helping! (least I forget to say something later)

I compared my version to what you have.

First, I noticed that my TV Server does not have an expandable tree like yours and that all of my card Types are Unknown. (see screenshot below)

Next, I wasn't able to get anything to work under TV Mapping, because my card list was empty.

But, let's ignore all that for now, because I seem to have created a new problem. I tried to scan a channel like you were doing up in the pic where you had a card selected using Manual Control or Test Channels, but I got that No Card error.

So, in my infinite wisdom, I simply removed the 4 cards with the intention of adding them again later.

I exited to make sure all the settings took, but now TV Server Config will not even start - I'm guessing because some brainiac removed all the freakin' cards!

I uninstalled MediaPortal, did a reboot of my PC, then reinstalled MediaPortal.

TV Server Config still refuses to start.

How do I get the cards added back into TV Server?

Did you first connect the HDHR to your network and then install and config the SiliconDust software and firmware before trying to config MP? In the HDHR setup you will need to select MediaPortal as your software (there is a drop down list to choose from)

I'm just trying to start on the ground floor...

I'm not sure about adding the built-in "cards" back in. I think you have to activate cards in the Windows device manager to get them to show up in the list, or make sure the drivers are properly loaded before starting config.

HDHomeRun has been installed for a few years. It has been running on Windows Media Center (WMC).

I do have HDHomeRun configured at this point to run MediaPortal.

Even with the cards removed from the TV Server app and HDHomeRun set to use MediaPortal, I can still watch Live TV on WMC. I read the section on Remove Tuner in TV Servers, but the HDHomeRun has never appeared in Device Manager, and the Advanced Tuning page offered NO help!

Any idea who I could contact about getting these cards added back in to TV Server?

On my Win7 system I don't see the HDHR tuners in device manager but do see my Hauppauge HVR-2250 that is connected to PCIe on my TV Server. If I open windows "networks" I see my HDHR tuners and other systems on my local LAN. If I click on 1 of the HDHR tuners, it opens a web browser with links to HDHR web page for setup instructions, download. I've never had HDHR MePo setup problems but maybe you could try the following. I don't know if XBMC has done anything the block other applications from using the HDHR tuners.

    1. Use HDHR Setup and check under applications that you have MePo selected. Maybe try selecting Windows MC and hit "apply", then reselect MePo and "apply". Maybe reboot.

    2. Upload your MePo TV Server log files. On my Win7 system these are in
    C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\log

rename the existing tv.log and error.log files, reboot and post the new tv.log and error.log files after the reboot. The log files will show what MePo TV server is seeing when it starts after a fresh reboot and tries to detect and config your tuners.

    okay...

You said you uninstalled MP, did you do a full MediaPortal products cleanup? That should remove any registry keys that might be keeping your built-in cards from listing. It will remove any databases and user settings since installing the first time. Then do a fresh install of MP as a single seat set-up with TV viewing. Hopefully your cards should list again.

I'm completely befuddled by your experience with setting up MP.
