TV service not started (1 Viewer)

When trying to load configure tv server from the menu, it will pop up a message saying server not started, start server yes? If I say yes and go to config screen, then click any item, it say TV Server not started.

I then can not do anything since the message error keeps popping up over and over.
All I can do is cntl-alt-delete and kill the app.

Do you need TV server running to watch TV?

I load from the menu tv server configuration,
I get a message saying it has not started, I tell it to start
I am presented with config screen
I click any item and get the error TV Server Not Started
I can not do anything with the app message keeps popping up so I kill it.

Also, where do I tell it what my card type is.

the media portal configuration page lists tv, but no where can i find atsc card selection

my card is vbox 3560 usb.

looks like the TV server must be running or the the program will never work.

Yes. Card configuration is done in TV Server not Mediaportal itself. MP is just the client.

Check windows services and look for the TV Server service. See if you can start it from there.

Ok that is what i meant. I have the same configuration and the same issue here right after the machine has booted.

I dont know the exact reason, but after boot the tv server seems to be in a undefined/unresponsive state. You have to restart the service manually before you can use the tv server.

First, check if the tvservice process is running, you should see it in the task manager. If you dont, something else is wrong, but it should be there. Open the windows services management and restart the tv service. Then open the tv server configuration, it should work fine now.

You need the tv server to watch tv only if you use the tv client plugin. If you dont use the plugin, you can also use the client standalone and without tv server and sql server, at the cost of losing all the background services. MP checks whether the tv client plugin is present, and if it is, it disables its own tv functionality and tries to use the tv server.

As a workaround, instead of shutting down the machine, use hibernation.

and mediaportal crashed

Update, I just rebooted computer and I can now run MP without crashing

Pls read more carefully. Look for the tvservice process in the task manager. Do *not* look for it in the services manager. Only *if* you see it is running, go to service management and restart the service.

Keep in mind that MP is work in progress and it has its issues. It can be configured to some stability though.

I found the auto scan feature and scanned the channels.

It is in the tv server configuration, you do not need to manually add channels

I have a 2.8ghz 800 FSB intel sata board
And I have a 64mb nvidia mx4400 agp video card.

Curious if any have seen this, the video is lagging and moving in slow motion sometimes.
Is this a video card issue?
