Hi, I'm new to Mediportal and need a bit of help please. I've downloaded MediaPortal 2 and installed. I made a mistake and just installed the client, so I then re-installed and changed and added the server. This did not look any different so I uninstalled everything and started again. This time I instaled Client and Server. I only want to use it on one Windows 8.1 PC. It still looks the same. I cannot find the only bit I need which is watch, record and schedule TV. After one instal attempt, I saw a screen which had an index down the left hand side but I haven't seen it since. Any help appreciated. Thanks Dave

As I understand it, MediaPortal version 2 is still a "work in progress", and is not yet suitable for use as your everyday media center HTPC. On the other hand, MediaPortal version 1 is suitable for everyday use, and is used by many people the world over (including me).
If you want a system to use (rather than experiment with), I would suggest installing the MP1 client and server. MP1 can be installed alongside MP2 (so you do not need to uninstall MP2). After installation, you will need to run "TV Server Configuration" to set up your TV channels, and then "MediaPortal Configuration" to set up the client.
The Wiki is an excellent source of information about MediaPortal.
