Hi All

I'm having a problem with my MCE 150. WinTV works but media portal refuses to initialise the card. It will scan for channels and I can add the CVBS (I only have a scart going into the card) and can watch TV from my cable box in WinTV. But clicking the "TV ON" button in media portal the button goes blue then instantly back to off. Any ideas?

It was Vistas annoying UAC. I went into the media portal directory in program files, found the media portal exe, right click and goto properties. In compatability there's a section that says "Run as administrator". Do this on the main and config exe's.

For some reason (I've no idea what or how) you'll need to setup the mediaportal config again when running as administrator as it seems to use a different configuration file. I'm not sure if this is intended by the mediaportal developers or a bug due to the UAC. As far as I'm aware mediaportal doesnt store its data in a local profile so it shouldnt make a difference.

There is infact a config library hidden for your user in:
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal

When you run the program as Administrator it is using the config in the installation library that is why you have to reconfig.

To avoid it just copy all the files and folders from the C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal
to the Installation Library.

Hope it helps others :)
