it's does suggest that something is not being done correctly in Media Portal.

Then have a look at the source, and try and help.

I'm lucky in respect of i see whats going on in the background, and a lot of these guys are working every day\night together updating\testing to get things right for possibly a worldwide audience.

ps. wish we could do a M$ and say to manufacturers\consumers "meet our specs or we will not support you", half if not more of the problems we encounter are down to hardware installation problems\drivers\codecs, not MP itself, so comparing Mediaportal directly to MCE (which i have) which also crashes and closes itself down, is not a valid and fair comparison.

Does anyone have any idea what my message may mean?

Besides it consistantly saying it cannot find TV tuner filter, have not a clue to why, i take it reverting to a earlier build solves this.

Had you updated the driver at any point, that may be stored in the database and pointing to the wrong place for TVServer to look.

Might be worthwhile backing up db and then deleting. make sure you back up your channel config with the export function (only if you have a working version to do this of course).

I've not yet had the time to sit down and revert to an earlier build. Each time I've re-installed it, I've actually removed the entire schema from the DB to force MP to re-create it. There was nothing important in there.

I've updated the driver, but I've been having problem with both a Twinhan card as well as the Fusion. It's really weird.

I too am guilty for giving out because my setup has never worked. I can see both side of this argument and it is one we cannot resolve by moaning. all us people who can't code have to just wait and submit our logs so we can help these guys figure it out. At least we have got a responce from the developers to say that they hopefully are on the track to resolving these issues. that is the main reason why everyone is getting worked up around here. the lack of responce from the developers. give them a couple of weeks and we will see what happens.

    Exactly.

I was guilty of venting my frustration about the way I saw the project going. I've been using MediaPortal for long enough now to realise that it does most of what I want it to do. Sure, I'm one of the lucky ones who has a setup that TV server works well on. However, if I didn't, I'd just have to stick with TV engine 2 until TV engine 3 is ready for prime time. Yeah, it's taking a while. So what! It's not as if we have a right to have a computer do all of these wonderful things.

And the main thing is, over the last couple of years, MediaPortal has gone from strength to strength. The team may not always do things the way we would like, but they do know what they are doing.

Look at the new development of MediaPortal2. The team have admitted that MediaPortal is getting out of hand and hard to get stable. They have made a long-term decision what to do about it. Back in my programming days, I've been there. Sometimes it's easier to start again from scratch with what you have learned.

Basically, give them a bit of space, support them and be grateful that something as good as MediaPortal exists. If it doesn't work for you and you have the experience/knowledge/time then I am sure your input will be valued.

Please don't take my comments as implying any connection with the team. I am just a happy MediaPortal user.
