It's better also to uninstall MP before installing a new SVN. This is the procedure I use:

    - Uninstall TVServer (after stopping it)
    - Uninstall MP TV Client
    - Uninstall MP
    - Install MP 0.2.3.0 plain (do not configure it)
    - Install MP SVN (do not configure it)
    - Install TV Server corresponding build
    - Install MP TV Client from the same TVServer build
    - Copy manually installed plugins to mediaportal directory (they're removed from the uninstall procedure)
    - Reinstall .mpi plugins (they're also removed)

It's not necessary to reinstall skins (they're not removed from mediaportal uninstall procedure).

Then start tvserver setup (it will ask to start tvserver), verify configuration.

Then start mediaportal configuration and verify configuration.

This procedure works fine, I have no problems with this SVN and a fireDTV.

Since the Relaise 0.2.3.0 i never deinstall it.
Only install the SVNs and often go back in the SVNs ... that means that i install a new SVN, when its not good i install a older one.

    never had problem with this.

Installation time on this way (MP SVN, TV Server + Plugin): <4 min
For me you way will be take too long i thing.

When you will go back use the sme way but with older SVNs.

When going backwards in the MP SVN versions it's always good to make a clean 0.2.3.0 install and the update it with the desired SVN version. Why? MP SVNs have only the updated files included and if a newer SVN updates some file that the older SVN is yet updating you will end up in a configuration that isn't actually from ANY SVN version!

For me the best way is to take an image regulary (taking about 5 minutes) and always archive the latest 10 images. If there are any problems simply restore the image back (taking less than 2 minutes). This way it is also very easy to test certain things against older releases if I am not sure if something had worked previously or is a newly introduced problem.

    Back to 278

Yes, I have the same issues explained by sis3970 so I went back to the 17278 that passed many of my tests, for me, is now the most stable version built on 2008....

    17278
The test of left running the TV all night playing one HD channel passed, so, in the morning the tv still was working and MP responsive on al commands, in this test the only problem was a little corruption on the MP skin, if I left running the tv less time, the corruption on the skin graphics is less too.. I'm using replicant vista edition (very good one) skin.

Other important test passed is after playing TV, changing to videos works perfect and after playing videos (movies in this case for my son) for more than 4 hours when go back to TV, it plays perfect, changing channels very good.

The issues we know for the 278 are: no recording, slow or none epg, sometimes some channels start playing with video skipping until 2 to 5 minutes that get stable.. maybe something related to codecs interaction.. that happens to me with nvidea pure video (2 o 3 channels about 60% of the time on those channels) and ffdshow (the same 2 o 3 channels about 40% of the time on those channels) (I no use other decoders)

I repeat...the stable version of 2008 to me is the 17278.

    Thanks!

    Thanks Chrissooo & Roby!

Seems there is no way to keep the configuration except make a image.

Seems like a deadlock with the PowerScheduler Plugin.
Please disable it and try again.
