Looks like you're almost there but not quite...
First things first, I wouldn't touch svn unless it specifically fixes a bug that you encounter...
SVNs are not designed to be stable, they are just an automatic snapshot of what the developer have on the code tree at a given time.
Anyway, I think you need to start from a clean install, try this suggestion:
1. Backup your settings
2. Uninstall MediaPortal through add/remove program, then DELETE the Program Files\MediaPortal directory
Also search for MediaPortal under search as there are a couple of Mediaportal folders under Documents and Settings.
3. Install RC2 and test that you can get TV, don't worry about other settings for now.
Make sure you can tune between channels, and recorded tv is fine
4. Make a backup now if possible (Acronis, Ghost, etc)
5. Install RC3, may have to do it twice, it failed sometimes on the first go.
6. Check if TV is still OK, if yes, save and then put your config back.
Otherwise you might have to stay with RC2 only, but do not try the SVN...
The key here is to keep backups (image) that you can refer back to when things go wrong
