Hi can someone check what settings they have in the Windows services setting for the MP TVServer service? On my system this seems to be set to manual. Is this correct? I've seen my TVService end up not running a few times and this seems to coincide with a Windows update event. I wonder if the update process is stopping some services and due to the manual setting, it is not getting re-started... Also I notice that it is possible to have the server auto-restart in some cases, is this a good idea?

    Thanks

    Andy

    Hi Andy,

The tvservice should be started automatically but I have no clue for what reason it goes wrong.
Did you check the windows logs to see whether there are events related to it?

You could set the recovery settings to act upon failure to first restart the service and second to restart the system; there is no harm in doing so but of course, you might see the system restarting while you are watching something - in the worst case.
Better option is to find out why the service goes to manual and maybe it's not bad to ask the pro's here to have a look at your MP logs.

    Hi,
Thanks for the quick reply. I'm not sure why the service is set to manual (there is a chance I changed it for some reason in the past and have forgotten doing it!). For now I've set it to automatic and will see if it changes back. I wasn't sure what the normal setting should be... Perhaps one of the various betas or svn builds I've had installed changed it...

    All the best

    Andy
