    Hi.

installed the 1.5 stand alone TV server on a new machine with Windows 8. Manually installed MS-SQL2008, as the clients were still with that and I did not want to reinstall those. (Multiseat setup with win7 and win8 client).

After some troubleshooting around the SQL Server, I can now watch TV on my clients, also TV Guide and watching recordings works. :)
However,on rebooting, the TVService does not start. I can start it manually without any issues and then everything works. The service just does not start automatically. :(
Emtied the log dir and after reboot the attached logs were in.
    Any idea?

    regards

    Same error as here:
    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...ecting-to-remote-mysql-server-at-boot.122115/

As I say also in the other thread, this is very strange. Now we can see that the problem seems to be database independent (klara31 is using MySQL).

Is your SQL Server also installed on a remote machine, or is it running on the same PC as the TV service?
Could you please provide logs from a successful TV service start.
Also, are you running any sort of firewall?

    Hi,

no, sql server is on the tv server machine. That machine also has a client for testing that also works properly.
Only the normal windows firewall. But as I had some issues, even this one is switched off at the moment.
Attached logs from the manual start. one client was running with TV at that time

BTW signature not correct with regards to SW, as I am in transition...

    Hi again,

I checked in the other post and yes my TVService has dependency on RPC and SQLServer Browser.

When I was still on WHS as the OS and with MP1.4 I did not have the issue.

Could you please try adding a startup parameter to the service configuration in Windows service manager as shown here:

    http://help.tasktop.com/help/topic/...how-to/windows-service-properties-general.png

    1. Stop the TV service.
    2. Add "/DEBUG" to the start parameters box.
    3. Reboot and see if the problem still occurs.

NOTE: I do not consider this a solution - just a way to get more information... so even if the problem does not occur, we need to continue to investigate...

    Oh, two more questions/points...

While we're doing this, please set your TV Server log level to debug. It is currently set to warning... which gives me pretty much zero information in the log files.

Second, can you tell me what priority you have set for the TV service.

    Thanks,
    mm

    Hi,

Initial it was on "realtime", but as the error log mentioned something around this, I switched to "normal". However, nothing changed. That was the setting in the logs.
Attached logs with "debug" level. TV Service was started by starting TVServer config.

    Hi,

missed the post before the last :X3:

    see attached logs.
INTERESTING: maybe even a solution: there is an option for "delayed" automatic start of the service in the service properties. Activated that one and some 1-3 minutes after rebooting, TVService is up and running. Maybe my system is too fast ;). Fresh OS on SSD -- boot is blinding fast!

Maybe my system is too fast ;).
This is entirely possible. Basically TV Server is attempting to use the database and the database engine is throwing back an error. In theory this should not happen since the TV service is dependent on the SQL Server browser service... but we all know that what happens in real life is not always what we think should happen... :)
