Hello,
I had posted this earlier to have it deleted by someone stating they had warned me to include logs or something. I was never warned that I know of. I don't know how to include any log files and would be happy to if that is what is required but as far as i knew i was the only one to respond to my own thread.

Frustration aside. I am going to open this back up and assume that the reason i didn't get any responses was that I didn't include the logs. I am going to look into that if it will help fix my issue.

My Issue. I have tvservice installed on my windows home server and am trying to get it to record my shows. it records one every once in while but i would guess 80% of the shows i schedule nothing happens but from time to time a directory will get created with nothing in it.

Any ideas?

I will look into how to get the logs and post them in a bit.

Hey thanks for the reply and I appreciate the link. I am only running the tvservice on the machine having issues. Does this still apply as I don't see the debug mode mentioned in the doc.

    TVServer is permanantly debug enabled.

It's just as easy to get the logs from Start\team-mediaportal\TV Server\logs, zip them up only after you have had a failed recording, then upload using the forum advanced + feature, never put logs readout in post, as this makes the post unreadable and tend to be ignored by team members, if you spot a snippet that is important, that can be cut'n'pasted to highl;ight were to look.

    Cheers

I tried a recording for this morning at 7:00 and it did not record. I saw this in the error.log file. I will zip up the contents of the folder as well and attach it.

    Any ideas?

Did these logs help anyone? Is there anything else I can provide or should look at that would help determine the issue I am having?

I am trying to figure out why my tvservice will not record scheduled shows.

I was watching the error.log file while something tried to record and i was getting many many of this same error:

    2010-03-28 05:08:07.734375 [10]: Exception :confused:ystem.ArgumentException: Illegal characters in path.
    at System.IO.Path.CheckInvalidPathChars(String path)
    at System.IO.Path.ChangeExtension(String path, String extension)
at TvService.Recorder.Start(User& user, String& fileName, Boolean contentRecording, Int64 startTime)

What does this mean? I am not sure what path it is referring. When something is supposed to be recording is there any way to tell if the tvservice is actually trying to write out a file?
