twhinhan DVB-S in US (1 Viewer)

I have the pre 1.3 of mediaportal and twinhan bda drivers. Anyone successfull in scanning echostar 110 or 119 for any FTA channels? If so, list your settings. I can scan with good signal, but mediaportal will not get new channels.

Just want to know if FTA from echostar is possible with Mediaportal in US.

... I can scan with good signal, but mediaportal will not get new channels.

I was not able to get any sig, yet another app worked just fine. Did you use a Diseqc in line or was it a direct connect? I am unable to get any scan with a signal.

As for your question it appears that only the SS2 (nexus) cards will support the MD-Plugin's needed for that type of scan.

I did both with Diseqc and without. Both times I get great signal, but MP 1.3 full version will find transponders, but not get new channels.

Please submit your working configuration and if possible a guide explaining how you were able to scan Echostar. I'm trying to make MP work for me, however, every time I scan Echostar 3 or Echostar 7 I don't get any results.

I'm using Windows XP SP2 with Twinhan BDA driver v1.2.3.0 WHQL and MP 2 RC3.

Hrmmmm it seems DirectTV does not use standard DVB broadcasting...

DSS - the "other other" MPEG-2 satellite standard used in North Amercia

Before the MPEG-2 and DVB standards were ratified, the first all-digital DBS service was launched in the USA - DIRECTV. DIRECTV uses a unique system called DSS, invented in part by Thomson of France. Systems like DCII and DVB both model themselves on the MPEG-2 transport stream model, but DSS really is very different.

Today, the DSS system is used for DIRECTV's DBS service in the USA (broadcast from 101, 110 and 119 degrees west), the DIRECTV Latin America service (broadcast on Galaxy 8i at 95 degrees west) and for some DirecPC Internet over satellite channels. DSS supports AC3 audio as an option (most channels use MPEG-1 Level 2) and also supports HDTV.

Lets try a manual channel addition...
A FTA channel you both should be able to access.

In configuration.exe try this...

Go to Television->Channels
The Add a channel
In the General Tab add this...

Channel Name: NASA TV
Channel Number: 213

Next go to the DVB-S Tab

Network ID: 4100
Service ID: 213
Transport ID: 11
Carrier Frequency: 12370000
Symbol Rate: 20000
Polarisation: Vertical
Provider: DISH Network
Audio PID: 4131
Video PID: 4130
PMT PID: -1 (I don't know this...)
PCR PID: 4130
Audio PID1: 4131
Audio: English
Audio 1: English

Leave the rest of the information default.
Try and do this without DiSEqC

I suspect there is a problem with our stream analyser on DirectTV streams which is preventing you us from adding the channels since the packet lengths are different with DSS vs DVB 127bytes vs 188.

Is there any update with this?? I am trying to scan Echostar 7 in the setup program, and I get GREAT signal, it seems to read the satellite, but no new channels are found.
