    Hi,
Interesting, which Emley moor muxes don't work (I asume with the 1.02 settings), as I'm in the same area... What will I be missing?

When I did a retune I had problems with five, I have a mixed DVB-T/DVB-S setup and I had problems with the combined channel. I deleted the combined channel and simply did the re-scan, this found the new tuning details for five and I used this to re-create a combined channel entry. However as previously noted as a result of this I lost all of the recorded program entries for five (the files still existed). In my case I fixed it by using the MS sql explorer tool (whatever it is called), to edit the database entries and change the channel id associated with the "lost" recordings to the id for the new five channel I'd just created. I then re-created my scheduled recordings for five by hand...

    All the best

    Andy

Thanks Owlsroost, your sequence worked at treat!:D

Gloomyandy, I think each of the mux's were still found but the relocated channels weren't. I do seem to have variable scan results (I have two twin tuners cards) and between the four scans its very common to get different quantities of channels found, with some frequencies being 'non found' on one 'half' of a card but recognised on the other tuner!
I'm running 1.1.0 by the way without SVN's at the momment.

    Cheers to both of you,
    Ian T.

    Hi Ian,
Thanks for the info. I must admit that I aslo often seem to get various channels that come and go during a scan, but I'd always put that down to different times of day etc.

On a related topic. Can anyone explain how the mechanism for the available muxes transmitters etc. actually works? Is there a way to obtain an updated set of definitions (without upgrading all of MediaPortal)?

    Thanks

    Andy

The transmitter frequencies are stored in .XML files (easily edited with Notepad etc) in C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\TuningParameters

Note that MP 1.0.2 uses (for DVB-T) a single 'dvbt.xml' file, but this is supposed to be changing - see https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/epg-grabbers-tuningdetails-296/new-structure-tuning-parameters-67396/

The info on which 'channels' are in a mux is carried in the mux data stream (to allow it to change dynamically) - this is the PMT/PAT/PID data discussed occasionally.

I've also had problems with missing channels on tuning (I have one twin-tuner DVB-T PCI card) but only with 1.1.0, never with 1.0.2 or DVBviewer. I've just kept retrying until each tuner has recognised all 6 local muxes. Fortunately, the new .xml file for my area does have the latest frequencies but it is a very easy format to understand and edit if not. Just note that it is now in a completely different place (under "Documents and Settings" somewhere) than where you might have found dvbt.xml

    Hi,

I'm having some funny tuning problems also. Recently Channel Five stopped working (I think after a rescan). Tried rescanning but had no luck. I then completely uninstalled MP and reinstalled. Scanned both DVB-T tuners (Nova-T500) and all seems fine - all channels found. Tried timeshifting in "Manual Control" and worked fine.

Then tried in MP. I selected BBC1 from TV guide and it just hangs MP. Then ended MP in Task Manager (it didn't say that MP was not responding by the way). Tried loads of times with no luck. Ended up clean installing Vista, reinstalling MP and still the same problem.

I thought my Nova-T500 must be up the creek, so I bought a cheepie dual USB tuner from maplin. Scanned for channels and as before have no problems. Tried in MP and exactly the same thing - just hangs when you select BBC1.

I then tried installing MP 1.0.2 (instead of the 1.1 Beta). Same problem.

Here's the weird bit. I found that if I start TV on the Dave channel, it starts fine. I can then change to any channel and it works! This only seems to work with the Dave channel (I've tried on many others and it hangs).

    So, what's that all about?!

    More info!

Okay, found out how to make it work. When it hangs I just forward to the end of the TV buffer and it works. Still works first time on the Dave channel as well. So strange!

Well, I now have four tuners, so all worked out in the end. If anybody knows a way that I can start TV without forwarding to the end of the buffer I would love to know... thanks

Never mind, I'll try to get the error log file and post in the bugs section (never done this before...)

I have a mixture of these problems.
I have dual freeview T-500 hauppauge (the one that seems to have lods of problems) and a DVbS card.
Retuned freeview because of the Sep31 thing.
Could watch local BBC1 but not record.
On my setup freeview is higher priority to sat. However on disabling sat I found there were problems with vrtually all combined channels ie wont work withot satallite.
Can you uncombine, retune, then recombine. Or, as usual, start again?

I'd delete all the existing channels and re-scan everything - otherwise you seem to end up with a mixture of old-and-new (and hence problems).

Owlsroost - this is what I feared.

Does this mean I have to :-
    Rescan
    Remap to cards
    Recombine
    Delete groups and remake
    Re-create schedules
    Import existing recordings
    Re-map epg.

All of this took ages before.
Freeview and sat lineups changes quite a lot. will I have to do this regularly.
    Cripes:eek:
