On the server everything is working fine; the scan of the satelites works like a miracle.

On the Client i have a problem with MyTV. When i search for the channels it asks for the name/IP address of the TV-Server. After that (confirming) MP answers:

Connected to TV-Server
Unable to connect to database
All IP Ports seem to be fine

Its a clean standard install of MP 1.1.0 RC1 on the (new) Windows7 TV-Server with MySQL.
Its also the first install of MP on the Client.

It's my first real installation test of MP. I tried before the beta of 1.1 but could not get my server working.

Thanks for looking at my problem.

Regards, Jac

AW: Unable to connect to database

First of all: I'm not a MP developer/member, please do not consider this as an "official" answer, just tryin to help.

Try to use the servers ip address on client instead of the servers name. If it still doesn't work check if any firewall is blocking the mysql db on the server or on the client. Try to connect to the mysql db using any sql program.

AW: Unable to connect to database

I had the same problems - and on my side, it was a "problem" of my home-network: Try to reach your server with a ping from your client. Use the nostname - not the IP-address - for testing the ping. The reason ist, that the database needs to connect over the hostname. In my case, my notebook was in the wrong domain and i could not connect to the server via hostname. I solved this problem with an entry in the host-table on the client-side.

Hi. Yes u are right. :D Indead i could not reach the server with ping using the hostname. And when i added the name of the server to the hosts file the problem was gone. Thx a lot.
