Hi,

I’ve started getting “Unable to play x.mp3” with files I know used to play fine.
These files play ok in Windows Media Player.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled MP but its still playing up.
I’ve also tried using one of the files as the test file in the BASS DSP/FX section but get the error “Can’t play file. Probably not a valid music file”.
It’s bound to be something I’ve done but I can’t work it out.

Thanks
John

For some reason it is trying to open this file with the WMP audio renderer.
Try to enable BASS as the audio player in config and see if it changes anything

I had this problem as well. I tracked it down to some inappropriate file extensions in my music and video configurations. (.ts in music and .mp3 in video). Deleted them and all is working fine again.
