Unable to Scan DVB-T in Wollongong (1 Viewer)

Recently I found my media portal (1.2.1) "as set up" was becoming unreliable and so uninstalled completely and I installed a new version first 1.2.2 and now 1.2.3
I live in Wollongong NSW - According to the Internet the 5 Groups are

1. Nine 613500
2. Ten 634500
3. Seven 655500
4. ABC 697500
5. SBS 711625

It was nice that the new versions had NSW - Australia when choosing the DVB-T but in fact no channels were found when I scanned.

There are two tranmitters in Wollongong at Brokers Nose and the other at Knights Hill. Inspection suggests that the channels "In the Wollongong set" were set to Knights Hill. This location is screened for me and I think that most Wollongong viewers would get a better signal from Brokers Nose.

When choosing the "ALL REGIONS"in Australia three channels of Nine were found at the correct frequency but no other stations were found.

Repeated Manual scanning using the "Ädvanced Tunning Options" "Single Transponder" allowed Ten and ABC to be added but not SBS nor Ten.

There was no pattern to when channels were located but rebooting the machine seemed to make it more successful

I would be very grateful for any comments

Why not create a new file, Australia.NSW - Wollongong Brokers Nose.xml

I don't think you need to use 711625 since this is within the offset (711500 + 125 = 711625) ?

I have to admit that I don't know much about the offset or bandwidth settings.

If this works, we can rename the existing one by adding Knights Hill to the name.

It has taken some time and I have done this. BUT there is another problem. I cannot pick up SBS and Seven. ( I have tried repeatadly to scan for these).

When I ran the Tv server with new "Wollongong NSW brokers nose" file that you kindly provided nothing was identified.

Total radio channels updated 0, new 0

On rebooting and rerunning first nine and then on another run ten was identified BUT not ABC SBS or Seven?

I have tried to look at the tv.log but have no understanding of what it means I could send the logs but I cannot run the "Debug mode on the TV server".

I would like to get this to work. It seems to me that the most likely reason for my problems is that my software is screwing up and this is almost certainly my fault. I would love feedback

Hi!
When you scan do you get indication of signal- and quality -strength?
It almost sounds that you actually does not have margines to detect them all!?
Does it work on another system/tv setupbox?

Yes I get some indication of the signal strength -
You could be correct when you suggust that the signal is too weak BUT then repeated scanning should not give the different results. Also Media Portal (an earlier version did on this setup with NOTHING CHANGED). ALSO I do also have another media center in another room and it works perfectly (Unfortunately off Windows 7 Microsoft I will get MediaPortal going on both sets when I get it working) NOTE that both sets come from the same ariel.

I have finally been able to get the logs saved on my desktop (Running MediaPortal Debug) and have enclosed them

Do you have any other software installed that could have a lock on the card? Have you disabled Windows MCE services in MediaPortal Configuration ?

Googling I found
in Media Portal Confiqurtation =>Aditional third party checks - there is a bar which set polocy to prevent the services start up.
in TV Server Configeration =>Aditional third party checks - there is a bar which set polocy to prevent the services start up.

Both of these were pressed but each time I ran TV server the services seem to have restarted?

That might be the problem. These setting should (and do for me) disable the MCE services so that they won't start again, even after a reboot.

What happens if you right click on config.exe and run as administrator, do the changes stick now.

OPS There were Three Problems and a four step solution. I was ashamed to find that the key problem was that the plug powering the aerial amplifier had fallen out and when this was replaced I have wonderful Media Portal back!.

The problems were

1. Media Portal was running very slowly with pronounced pauses
2. The new version of Media Portal did not have the "Brokers Nose" Transmitters set but the"Knights Hill" Transmitters
3. Even when the correct values of the frequency was input the TV server could not find the transmitter.

The solutions were

1. Delete excess files - Defragment the hard disk - then stop Nortons from scanning in real time MPlayer and TVserver. (Switching off the virus protection for the MP compents was the key step here.)
2. Setting up the "Brokers Nose" Transmitters as set out above in create a new file, Australia.NSW - Wollongong Brokers Nose.xml
3. Disabling Windows MCE services in MediaPortal & TVserver Configuration
4. Putting the plug back in the power socket. (I live in the shadow of a hill and while the TV could catch the signal the card needed more signal.

I would like to thank all of you who responded. Your help is just so much appreciated. It has taken a long time to find the problem and it was only when I was step by step checking before sending another message that I found the plug out.
