I have the same error on an freshly installed MediaPortal 1.0.2. The preview function of the tv server works, but entering "MediaPortal - My TV" I get an error message like
Unable to start timeshiftig, No video/audio detected
or
Unable to play: live1-0.ts.tsbuffer, Audio codec:
even thou files live1-0.ts.tsbuffer (1kB) an live1-0.ts.tsbuffer1.ts (250.000 KB) and later live1-0.ts.tsbuffer2.ts (250.000 KB) are created in the timeshiftbuffer folder.

Can anybody help?

olivvv, thanks for your hint.

I finally fixed the error by installing latest driver for my ATI Radeon 3200 graphics card (9-5_xp32_dd.exe)

I have Mediaportal 1.1 RC4 and encountered this problem. I am not sure if this has anything to do with it, but I had recently installed Divx, Quicktime, and VLC.

I fixed this problem by going to the TV Server configuration, and under manual control, starting timeshifting on a random channel. I opened up mediaportal and viewed this channel, then quit mediaportal. I opened the server configuration back up and stopped timeshifting. I went back to Mediaportal, and Bingo! I did not encounter the message, and all channels worked again!
