Hi
I have many GB of untagged .wav files.
I can set MP up and point it at the directory containing the files and it correctly finds artists and tracks.
When In shares view I get a list of artists, under each artist a list of albums and under each named album a list of tracks.
My music files have been carefully structured thus:
D:\music\ArtistName\AlbumName\Track no - Track title.wav
So might have
D:\Music\Pink Floyd\Dark Side of the Moon\01 - Money.wav
etc.
So when I view shares all is well and I can navigate and plays tracks at will etc.
Interesteingly when I change view to say Artist only 2 artists are recognised. For my collection these happen to be Alanis Morisette and Fleetwood Mac. Total of 2 artists. Even though there are 450 or so on disk. Format is identical (as far as I can tell).
Is there a step I'm missing to make this work in the way I would expect. Surely given that my music is meticulously arranged it should be possible for the database to populate the artist and Album Name from the path to the music file.
The fact that it works for 2 artists is suggestive of the functionality being present.
I try to get help on the music section of MP but the help files only explain the top 4 tabs of the music config. There are a whole host of music settings which are not in the wiki.
For example: in one of the music dialogs in the config app there is a field to set what looks like a regular expression for text matching. Not usre how this part is supposed to work. Also there is a field which sets where the music database is located . Mine is set at default C:. Im not sure where it is supposed to point.
Anyway am I missing some key steps here?
Kev
