Upstairs Client (1 Viewer)

Hi everyone. I'm a new user to MediaPortal, but have successfully installed TV-Server and Client to my machine down stairs, but have tried to install the client upstairs and not having the same success. Just want to link to the downstairs TV-server and was wondering if anyone could help.

PC downstairs: Windows Vista

PC upstairs: Windows XP SP2

running TV-server 1.0 on PC downstairs
Able to view TV downstairs via MediaPortal 1.0 on PC downstairs

Have installed same version of MediaPortal upstairs, but unable to connect to the PC downstairs (Tv-server).

In the TVCLIENT you are unable to specify a host as it greyed out.

Not sure how much more i can tell you or understand as i am very new to MediaPortal.

Have no experience of running MP on Vista I'm afraid so maybe someone else can shed some light on this.

It sounds like you have not installed MP upstairs as a TV client.

The MP installs and asks if i want to install tv-server on the upstairs machine, which i say no. i am assuming that the remaining installation was MP Client. Is this is not the case can someone point me in the right direction.

If you have not already figured it out when you install the upstairs system, chose the advanced install and select the 4th option 'Mediaportal Client'.
