USB-UIRT and Harmony 880. What remote to emulate? (1 Viewer)

I am new to MediaPortal and have been playing with it for about two weeks. Currently running RC4.

I have the USB-UIRT and the program seems to see it fine.

Now I need to configure the Harmony 880 to emulate a remote.

I read that the MCE remote is a bit slow, but others work better.
However nowhere can I find anyone specifying a remote to emulate.

At this time I just want to be able to navigate MediaPortal and control the Video player.

I have no need of TV capabilities or most of the other functions.

As long as I can navigate to the Video section, locate the video, then play it with normal DVD functions like FF, RW,Pause, Stop, Chapter I would be thrilled.

Right now I use my wireless keyboard, but I would like to ditch it as much as possible.

Any updates on this...I've seen a few threads about which remotes to emulate, but I can't find anything that works very well.

Also, any instructions on best setting up mediaportal with usb-uirt/harmony 880 with shortcuts to plugins like myemulator or moving pictures?

I am sure there are a lot of options, but here is what I have setup. I have a USB-UIRT, along with a Harmony 880. I have my Harmony 880 emulate something like a Windows MCE remote. I use a program called Event Ghost to map the button presses as I see fit in a context sensitive fashion. For example if I am in MediaPortal it behaves one way. If i am playing tracks in iTunes, it behaves differently. If you are just interested in pure MediaPortal controls, this is probably not the easiest solution, but it gives you a lot of flexibility if you want yo use your remote in many different contexts.

I've tried eventghost, and it kind of works, but is fairly slow to respond to my button pushes, such as navigating through menus in MP, are there any specific guides you could direct me to make eventguide/mp work smoothly?

I use a Harmony 880 remote with MP with no problems. I set the remote to "General HID" and use the default key mapping. The remote is set to emulate "Snapstream Beyond TV PVR" for my HTPC. I'm also using the firefly-mini IR receiver that was included with BeyondTV
