All was working (but I was using IR server service) and it conflicted with eventghost/usbuirt.

So I stopped the IR service, disabled the plugins and trying to use built IR control in MP config..

Under...

+Remote
direct Input
USBUIRT.........

I checked "use your remote to control MP" and "Let MP control your STB".
I learned commands. (fine).

I use "TEST SETTOP BOX CONTROL" and it changes chanel using this test ever time... quickly and nicely.

I run MP - go to TV and enter a number and no change in channel
I go to guide and click on a channel change and nothing happeds. How can it work in TEST and not in PM guide?

________ else if

Anyone knows how to use IR server plugins in mp (I have and works great) but can also allow EventGhost to load in the USBUIRT plugin without error... I'd rather do that.

Currently If I load EventGhost first, then run IR server, OR MP, configured to use IR server, it doesn't work.
(USBUIRT) driver can't be loaded or found. If I load/run IR server service... first and MP. Then open eventghost then the USBUIRT plugin in Eventghost errors (not loaded). How can both program use the device a the same time.

How can both programs use it.

Roy, did you ever get this solved? I'm having the same problem and can't figure it out.

Been a long time. I'm sure figured it out, but I can't recall... since I've long since moved on to XBMC.
Seems more stable, easier, and better support. (notice no one replied to my original msg above).

I gave up on "TV" to many issues with quality, guide etc. I use my "TV" for TV and when I want to do music, videos, mutimedia (anything but TV) I just chance my TV source.

Do a google for XBMC and give it a try - you may like it better as well.

Thanks for the reply. I hadn't considered that, but I'm sure spending a lot of time trying to figure out MP and work around things that should be really simple. I was looking for the best substitute for SageTV, since it easily did what I wanted most--record movies from my Dish set top box and put them on my hard drive for later viewing and archiving, as well as get rid of ads and allow stop, rewind, and fast forward of movies while watching. The biggest problem I'm having is that I bought a Hauppauge HD PVR device to record things. It was specifically supported in Sage, but not in MP, and since it is a recording device only and not a tuner, MP treats it like some kind of bastard child. I guess you probably wouldn't know if XBMC works with the HD PVR device, but does it do all those other things?

I should look into SAGE I never did. (why arent' you using that then?) I have PVR as well, and well only use it now to watch TV on my computer. (rare) I'd like to go back to using it.... but all the options were buggy and needed constant tweaking. Always ran into some problem - with guide, or IR or some such. I gave up. I don't have much desire to record. On dish most everything runs and re-runs. Can't watch it one night? It's on another... and movies? You can download them instead of recording them. Movies these days aren't what they use to me. Not really worth watching most, and one a great one does come along. I go by the blue-ray. So what are the downfalls of SAGE? is it a hardware item as well? I'm not familiar other than just hearing it's name tossed about. So I can't record unless I go down to computer room and "set it up" and make an effort and typically there isn't anything I want to record that bad. I like XBMC to play back my movies, and home videos, view photos and play music. I also can operate my computer from my living room upstairs.
I have a wireless keyboard to run things. XBMC does have some TV features - it tends to use MP's tuner setup (again kludgy) I think I still ran into guide issues. It's been a while since I gave it up and use dish for TV and XBMC for all multimedia playback now. Less stress.

You need a differnt driver that allows it to be used by more than one app. I recall thats what I had to do. v1.4 only works with one app. Sorry I dont have a link or more info but it sounds like you cant use USBUIRT in more than one app at a time and this is how I fixed it. USBUIRT_Win7_Vista_v20216 i think.

rojoy, Sage was a great piece of software. I was in the trial period during installation when Google bought them out. They announced they would continue to support existing customers for at least another year, but I decided not the spend the money to activate it and then maybe not have it for more than a year. You're right about the Dish reruns. I was hoping to just record most everything I might be interested in to my HDD and then watch anytime I want, plus give up two of my three DVRs and all three of my monthly fees for the EPG. We've been paying Dish in excess of $1200 per year, including taxes, which is just ridiculous for all the reruns, crappy movies, and dozens of channels that I have no interest.

Thanks thirdoff. Much appreciate your getting back to me on this, since I have not been able to resolve this yet. I've been away for a couple of days and did not see your post until this morning. I assume you are referring to the usbuirt drivers that I need to replace. I could not find any file named usbuirt.dll on my system. In the driver tab of the USBUIRT in device manager under "Details", it lists five files, 3 in System 32, and two in Syswow64. In both system folders there is a file named usbuirtdrv.dll. I'm not heavy into the internals of computers, so I'm not exactly sure why there are entries in both system32 and syswow. My system is 64 bit. Maybe they were covering all bases. At any rate, could you clarify your advice to me with that additional information. Also, I was a bit curious as to how uuirt connects with usbuirt.
