Would it be possible to use the "scroll items to infinity both ways with focus always in the middle" á la AEON basic home animations and apply it to items lifted from a plugin/database?

Say you want to move CD covers or movie posters this way instead of using the built in "Poster view", would that be possible? If you could + adding zoom effect and possibly tilting/perspective, someone should be able to "create" a cover flow style in MediaPortal, right?

Don't get me wrong, poster view is great, but you can't "lock" the focus to the middle item, as it will always "travel" to the first/last items in a list instead of just revolving them.

You can lock the Focus in the middle :)

    Hi,

In filmstrip View (Poster View), you can lock the focus in the middle by using

    <scrollOffset>3</scrollOffset>

Insert a number that fits your Layout. For Example "3" will try to have alwyas thee items distance from the left and right (ermmm not so good english i think...:( but i hope you understand anyway...)

    Hope that helps!:)

Hi, yes, I'm aware of this. But read this part again:

"Don't get me wrong, poster view is great, but you can't "lock" the focus to the middle item, as it will always "travel" to the first/last items in a list instead of just revolving them."

What I meant was that instead of moving the first item in queue after the last, the focus (scrollOffset) will travel from 3 to 2 to 1 and THEN go to the first item in the list. If you try AEON Wide's basic home (or the AEON mod for StreamedMP) the items will just add the first after the last if you go from left to right, or the last after the first if you go the other direction.

    Yes you are right.

    Sorry for misunderstanding you...
I didnt get the fact, that you want to have an "endless scroll" thru your list, always with the focus in the middle.
    (if i understood correctly now)

Its right. scrollOffset only works as long as you dont come to the end of a list...

Sorry, i cant help you. I dont know how to accomplish this :(

The issue of the focus moving from the center was brought up when the scroll offset was being added to filmstrip last year. It was my original thought then to be able to offset the ends of the filmstrip to the allow for the focus to remain in the center (or at the set offset)...

...but I was thoroughly delighted when offset was finally added to filmstrip. :D

I think the feature would show some maturity if the focus could be set, and allow for skinners to utilize the space without worry that the focus will hide or interfere with any design elements placed there.

yes, would be great to have.

If you take a look, how XBMC it handles, it´s much better way like we do with the filmstripview.
But for this a dev must complete rewrite the fimstripview code in skinengine.
XBMC can do a real coverview look with it, because they can definite every single item in the screen.
We have not the possibility because the filmstripview is hardcoded only as it is now.
