My TV Recordings folder is on a NAS (DISKSTATION) and after Windows update 1803 Recorded TV no longer works. The problem seems to have been caused by the removal of some network features from Windows.

Is anyone aware of a way to change the path for Recorded TV folders to use an IP address.

    I want to use
    \\192.168.2.101\Media Centre\Media Portal\Recorded TV\

    Instead of
    \\DISKSTATION\Media Centre\Media Portal\ Recorded TV\

Only problem is I can't because you can't manually enter a path for the Recorded TV folder, you have to use the inbuilt explorer in TVServer Config.

Is there an XML file or Config file that can be edited?

Build 1803 not only broke Recorded TV it also broke My Videos. I was unable to see any content in My Videos folders but I was able to resolve that by changing the path for My Videos folders to use the IP address of the NAS. I was able to do this because you can type the path in for My Videos but you can't do the same for Recorded TV folders.

Hi regeszter, I was hoping you were going to reply to this thread. I noted that some months ago you assisted another user with a SetupTV file that could be edited but it was for version 1.18.

Before we go down that path though I will try to add my NAS IP to my Windows host file and see how that goes.

I must warn that when it comes to computers I know enough to be dangerous, I'm certainly no expert user.

Okay so I have opened notepad with administrator rights and opened the file c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

The content of the file is below. Can you please explain how I add the NAS IP to this, as I said I'm no expert.

    # Copyright (c) 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.
    #
    # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
    #
    # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
    # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
    # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
    # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
    # space.
    #
    # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
    # lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
    #
    # For example:
    #
    # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
    # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
    # localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
    # 127.0.0.1 localhost
    # ::1 localhost

    192.168.1.100 DISKSTATION

Everything after a # in the line is a comment ad did not have any effect. I've used "192.168.1.100" as the IP of the NAS and "DISKSTATION" as the name. You need to replace it with the real IP and name of your NAS.

Then save the file and be careful, it has no file extension. Be aware that notepad adds .txt unasked so you probably need to rename the file after editing...

Hi Lehmden / regeszter, thanks for your help and patience.

I have modified the hosts file and restarted my PC.

Am I right in assuming modifying the hosts file will hopefully resolve the problem I am experiencing with Recorded TV and eliminate the need to manually enter the network path with IP address?
