This was such a long time ago... I got myself a Ati 4650 I believe, and disabled the build in card, never looked back. HD channels works fine with my setup now. If I remember correctly the 3200 had some limitations, I'm not uptodate on the situation but I believe some of the limitations where hardware related (like you needed a phenom HT3 cpu to get good deinterlace).

Do you still use HT2 CPU? or a Phenom HT3?
Did you try to overclock the HD 3200 or the HT to e.g. 1200 MHz?

Still the HT2 CPU, never did any OC.

Hmm... and wow. This is a long thread. Is it possible to summarise which codecs that work well with my AMD 780G if I want GPU decoding for TV (mpg2 and h.264)? I realise I might have to do some tweaking and experimenting, but which codecd should work?

At this time I have these to choose from:

Mpg2:

MPC MPEG-2 Video Decoder (Gabest)
InterVideo NonCSS video decoder for Hauppauge
Hauppauge WinTV MPEG2 Muxer
ffdshow Video Decoder
CyberLink Video/SP Decoder (PDVD8)
CyberLink Video/SP Decoder (HomeNetwork)
CyberLink Video/SP DB-HD Decoder (PDVD8)

h.264:

ffdshow Video Decoder
CyberLink H.264/AVC Decoder (PDVD8)

Thans in advance!

yes, the PDVD 7-9 codecs for both mpg2 and h.264. They work well (on my system, Vista 32bit, EVR, Catalyst 9.6 I guess). But there are other possibilities I do not use (like Microsoft codecs under Win7 etc). maybe someone will corrrect me.

For H264 and GPU decoding use PDVD8. FFDShow doesn't use GPU.

For MPEG2 it's not very important, mpeg2 generally doesn't use much CPU power. However if you want to use GPU then you should choose CyberLink Video/SP Decoder (PDVD8) from that list

780G might be a bit slow for 1080i HDTV, users with vista seem to report less problems than users with XP in that regard.
