User experience with AMD 780G and MediaPortal (1 Viewer)

Catalyst 8.8 & 8.9 works JUST FINE for my install with XP SP3. The only time I don't get HW ACC is when I use VobSub to add subtitles to MKV-files. But stay away from drivers 8.6 & 8.7

How did you manage to run 1360x768?
Do you use Powerstrip?
If you use Powerstrip, can you tell me how you did it exactly?
I want this resolution too, then i get 1:1 pixelmapping.
With nvidia this is no problem at all, just add a custom resolution.

what HD decoder are you using? and do you get HW acc when watching live HD TV?

I tried Catalyst 8.9, it is really good. No instability or anything else. I just had to add the Catalyst registry tweaks to get goog black level with SD videos (color range problem). With 8.5 I had some HW acceleration issues with 1080 h.264 and PDVD codec (I had macroblocking if I tried to jump fwd or back in a file), this is solved. Flickering GUI remains.

I use powerstrip, I just use one of those listed in powerstrip.

Tried that, didn't do the trick for me.
Going to try dvi/vga connector.

I just got a 4650 card. Unfortunatly it's so new that the 8.9 doesn't even support it The installer will not install any drivers or CCC, I've managed to install the CD driver (ver. 8.523) via device manager, so it's working. But I don't have any options set because of the missing CCC (it won't install).

One thing I've noticed though with the 4650 is that the flickering GUI problem seems to be gone.

I know there are serveral that you can choose, tried all and none worked, thats why I asked how you did it. There is a guy making his own ati drivers (OmegaDrivers.net - Home of the ATI & NVIDIA Omega Drivers. Home), but his wife is ill and he is not developing at the moment. He adds the default 1366x768, so you can use it by default.

I reinstalled Vista yesterday, because I couldn't get the 4650 installed with CCC. Reinstalling vista and mp is a real pain, so I didn't get much time to try pstrip. But I added the 1366x768 LCD/TV listed in pstrip. Rebootet and worked, except it looked like crap and was stuttering really bad. I'm going to try one of the other ~1366x768 listed tonight. And will let you know how it goes.

CCC has 1366x765-85hz wich my tv wrongly has in it's EDID, but 85hz on my lcdtv = bad tearing

I have the Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H and have no problems with this chipset or onboard graphics or audio. I did however experience slight stuttering playback at start, but found out that I did not select my graphicscard to do the de-interlacing. I use CoverAVC and you can select it in the config that you want hardware de-interlacing. After that all problems were gone. I run my system at 1920x1080p conected with HDMI HQ 1.3a 1,5m cable. Audio goes with HQ Optical cable also 1,5m long.

There was one other problem I did have in the start with Catalyst v8.7, it BSOD's after install. Luckly the next day Catalyst 8.8 was released and short after that 8.9. I have no problems thus far with this chipset in combination with MP v1.0 RC2.
