i'm in the process of hunting some decent images. Which skin are you using?

Thanks.

Bluetwo wide

Thanks :)

I checked the TVDB and could not find a Loony Tunes ID#. Is there an ID for it on TVDB?

Here are the other two. The Home Improvement should work with both M.Chrome and others. If it does not let me know and I will tweak it.

I would really appreciate a dark entourage and dexter fanart without the boxes since I'm using the monochrome skin.

So, how are we going to handle this in skins?
For every ISPCP - Virtual Hosting Control System we have a bunch of fanart, for each fanart we have two versions (ISPCP - Virtual Hosting Control System, ISPCP - Virtual Hosting Control System , most used colors for that fanart, rating and language.

Most skins probably can't handle the original fullscreen images, but the vignetes ones can look kind of stupid, and as far as I understand we are not allowed to tailor fanart toward any specific layout, or even create a hand-crafted vignette version.

Can skins do anyting with the colors at all? What are they there for? Skinners?

PS: We kind of loose flexibility with the move, hand-created and just drop-in fanart (as we have now) will continue to be supported as it just gives more flexibility. Perhaps that's all that will stay supported, they only thing to potentially gain is download from within MP instead of manual download (and assuming spuck's site can handle it, even that can be changed). I'm not really convinced by it all....

As far as I know a lot of skins can handle full screen fan art. Like monochrome/indigo, xface, aeon/xephyr port and probably some other skin. I don't see why we shouldn't have fan art download. :)
And the vignette-version seems to work fine with spinsafe: LINK TO AN IMAGE STUPID WEBSITE
Looks a lot better than having a stupid box anyway. :D

There's not really a lot of manual downloading going on on my site, about 6000 downloads this month, is that a lot?.. torrents aren't being downloaded by a lot of people either, maybe about 20-30?

I think there would be more users if there was a simple full installation guide for TVSeries, including Fan ART setup.

You actually have to read many posts to even realise there should exist a FanArt folder and its location, and what to do with it.

It's not very savvy for the non computer people.

    Thanks

Could this question be asked in the skin/plugin development forum? Not sure how many developers are going to see this as this has been, primarily, a fan art request thread.

Not sure what to make of these auto generated vignettes. From what I had been reading they were decrying the constant use of upper left oriented fan art then they go an create PHP code that will make nothing but upper left oriented fan art. And yes, they look less than thrilling.

Right now it seems that only the original style (upper left oriented) will be supported but without the information box. I have not seen anything yet that would improve how fan art is handled in MP.

Handle is one thing, but they need to look good at the same time. Go back to page 7 at the bottom and see a demo of how Monochrome handles a full screen fan art vs. a left aligned one. The full screen simply looks half assed.

True, yet the ones made by Jocke (I think) look better in Monochrome. There are no one size fits all fan arts anymore. To say they all need to utilize this vignette system is to tell Psycho Reptile that Monochrome and Indigo need to change to be the same as everyone else.

No idea about the torrents. But 6K manual DLs I would think is a healthy number at a time when there are not a lot of new shows on and I would guess most people already have the fan art they are using. If anything this speaks to whether a auto DL system is really needed.

I can understand why the XBMC crowd wants fan art. It looks good, simple. But I don't think TheTVDB is a good place for this. TheTVDB hosts info for all TV Shows. Do you really think you are going to find any HQ/UHQ promo images for TV Shows over 5 years old. Heck, go back two years and you are looking at some pretty slim pickings. The Gilligan's Island was put together from many small photographs (each color corrected and contrast corrected), run through Picassa's photo pile maker, then put into Photoshop to remove the background around the individual images and finally put into a fan art template that had a HQ image of a sandy beach as a background. Is there any other way an older TV series gets a HQ fan art?

The ideal hosting site allows for individuality and uniqueness between skins. I think we already have this. To drop the uniqueness of a skin just so we can auto DL a fan art just does not seem worth it.

A good point. Though I think a Wiki may be better in the near term. Most of the changes being proposed are going to be up to Inker to implement. Lets face it, the skin displays what the plugin tells it to. So if it is settled that the skin will need to display XYZ then Inker will need to figure out how to tell the skin to display XYZ.
