I had the same Problem, cut GUI sounds over HDMI bitstream, on Windows 8 and 10 (no Problem with win7). see this

The solution was the AVR Audio guard in my case too.

Edit: I did not realize till now thar AVRGuard can cause significant CPU load (30-70% on my rig). I switched to SoundSwitch_v2 at the moment, works fine til now with CPU-loa of 0,5%
