I'm curious to know people's thoughts on IF MediaPortal TV service could work with a professional IPTV head-end, in order to increase the number of concurrent TV clients on a network. For example - if I am installing a hotel with IPTV, I might installed one of these units for every 2 channels from a DVB-S or DVB-T feed: index so, with 28 channels, I am going to fill a rack with 14 of these.
In an MP environment, I think I would need a TV server with 14 dual tuner cards in it, if I wanted the potential for 28 different clients, all watching different channels, but, if I went down the route of putting 14 of these PBI devices in, could I just assign an IPTV card for each unit, and map the channels that way? Assuming the network is well managed, this should provide a pretty good IPTV solution right?
What's the largest number of clients anyone has heard of running on MediaPortal? Might it be suitable for a small guest house installation? It's certainly a nicer front-end client than most of the 'professional' installations I see!
