I'm at a bit of a loss. I want to love MediaPortal, I really do. It's got so much functionality and I've been very impressed at what it's capable of.
However, I've used several versions from around April 2007 up until now (the Alpha) and every version has had stability problems, the main issue seeming to be non-permanent (but very very long) hanging in the GUI every once in a random while. It used to be connected with TV channel changing, often giving the TV graph error but now it just seems to 'crash' occasionally when browsing the GUI.
A major problem occurred with my media centre recently, necessitating a reinstall. I've previously used fairly Nlite'd XP installs in the past, however this time I've been mindful of the MP install guide and I've only done very cosmetic changes (changing 'Documents and Settings' to 'Profiles', disabling broken shortcut tracking, etc).
I'm at a bit of a loss as to where to go from here. I was waiting this week for the RC1 to be released today, but now I understand there's going to be a 'Beta' released 'sometime' and that it's primarily suitable for testing only, like the Alpha.
So at the end of this, I basically want some guidance as to what version to install. I'll soon have a HD projector to wire this up to and I really want to be able to have a stable, functioning system to use with it.
