vertical bars with new tv (1 Viewer)

i have just changed my tv to a 1080p plasma

i am using mp1.1 on xp with 680g chipset and cat drivers
res is 1920x1080 50hz with no overscan or custom res fix in the cat drivers
desktop and mp menus display perfectly as does avi's and dvd's

mkv's have black borders all around using either mpc-hc or coreavc codecs
using media player classic standalone there are no vertical borders

my tv has an overscan setting on - so I don;t see garbled signal at the top of the sceen on freeview dvb-t

screen calibration is maxed at 1920x1080


can anyone help?

didn;t have the issue before when I was using a 1366x766 tv

it's something to do with dynamic refresh rate change - if it's off there is no problem. perhaps it is freaking the tv's autodetect out

Found any solution to this problem?

I did, so here it is (maybe others have publishe it too, but I couldn't find one)
This only counts for my ATI card, but probably there lies the problem.

It happens when you enable "dynamic refresh rate"
It happens when the movie is 24 Hz (for me it did).

Go to CCC (Cathalyst Control Center (Expert mode?))
Go to Display Manager
Select the refresh rate of 24 Hz
Press Apply

Now you will notice the black bars above and aside the desktop.

Go to DTV (DVI)
Go to Scalling options
Select 0% for overscan
You will see the black borders disappear

Do this for every wanted refresh rate as CCC saves the overscan properties for each refresh rate.

Press OK and be happy you solved this one ;-)
