hi everyone,

i have a very strange and annoying problem when i play a movie in MP.

when i play a movie (from hdd) in PDVD8 i have perfect surround sound.
when i play a movie in MP i get stereo on all 6 speakers.
all speakers have the same sound. no surround.
i set the audio codec in MP on PDVD codec. i also tried other codecs without any result.

due to some other problem i had to reinstall MP RC2 and i set the settings the same as before.
i don't recollect having this problem before. (been out of service for a while)
anyway, i don't know what the cause of this problem is. it must be something in MP as i have no problem at all when playing in PDVD8.

i use SPDIF output and connect to my amplifier with optical audio.

i would apreciate some help.

i'm going slightly mad here.

i reinstalled MP RC2 several times.
i reinstalled powerdvd8
i reinstalled nvidia purevideo.
i checked all the settings in the MP configuration panel, as well as in pdvd8

i also installed RC3, but it freezes everytime, so i went back to the (in my case) more stable RC3.

even if i select another audio codec i have the same problem.
also when i change video codec it don't see a difference.
but the main problem for now is the audio.

when i play a movie straight in pdvd everything is working perfect.
so, it must be a problem within MP.
it's driving me nuts.

i don't know what to do anymore.

i'm running MP on vista ultimate and connect to my amplifier with an optical cable (spdif)

i attached a few log files and a xml file of my configuration settings.
if i check the log files i see something about not being able to connect video and audio decoders.
is there anybody with a little more knowledge about this who is kind enough to check the attached files and help me out?

i found the problem andi fixed it, although it is not exactly what i want.

i installed graphedit and rendered one of my dvd (on hdd) files.
and now it seems that selecting any of the codecs in MP has no effect.
it is always using Nvdia video and audio decoder.
in the settings of the audio decoder i changed from SPDIF to speakers (still connected with optical to amp) and now i have 5.1 on my movies, but the sound is not so powerfull.

anyway if i change the codecs in graphedit to the pdvd codecs i'm not able to connect the pins. i get an error about that. i have no idea why.

i didn't try any other codecs as i set my mind on using the pdvd codecs.
maybe if i uninstall nvidia purevideo it might help. i didn't try that yet.

before i also had spdif and ffdshow but i uninstalled that before i installed graphedit as i was thinking it could be the cause of the problem.
maybe i should reinstall this and try again to connect via graphedit. especially for the sound. i have 5.1 now but i dont like the sound. i don't get the power like i have when i play straight from powerdvd8.

maybe somebody knows a solution for that.
there must be at least somebody who knows something to help me out.

anyway it partially fixed, but still didn't reach the point of satisfaction and eargasm.

and for audio i changed to ac3filter.

now i have to find something for the crop settings as i have many movies with vertical black bars.

hi,

i just placed the decoder i wanted in the window.
you can find the decoders on the left side under dshow filters.
then i connected the in and output pins.
if you rightclick on the block you can adjust settings of the selected filterblock.

it is not that difficult, very easy to use.
if you concentrate on it for ten minutes you will see it is a very simple but powerfull program.
