whichever version of mediaportal i use i always have the same problem when watching TV

the video and audio are not synchronized and i'm talking about a big difference in seconds

the tv card is the lifeview dvb trio , the cpu is the 6600 quad core along with an 8600gt and an audigy, all these under vista ultimate with the latest drivers for everything

can the cause be the quad core cpu?

    Welcome Paul64

Make sure you are using "Default directsound device", and\or try different codec's.

I take it there is no stuttering, just out of sync.

    thanx

i tried all the codecs that are listed (i have k-lite mega codec pack installed) and mediaportal's own codecs

unfortunately the problem is never fixed, very good picture and sound quality but terrible out of sync between picture and sound

Hi Paul, but you didn't answer if you are using "Default DirectSound Device". It's in the TV section directly under the codec selector.
In 95% (totally made up number but seems right) this will fix your issues.

I wonder if this may be multi-core related...?

It is my understanding that MediaPortal does not necessarily play nicely with multi-core CPU's.

In particular, installing AMD's 'Dual Core Optimizer' for my Athlon64x2 resolved my sound issues (sound failing after a few seconds, regardless of codec, or sound device), and I wonder if the Intel CPU's may require a simlar fix for MP to function correctly. Perhaps something like these (the first in particular looks promising):

i tried "Default DirectSound Device" again but the problem remains - infact no matter what i choose it's always the same

sharaleo, i have vista not xp, do you know if intel has released a similar fix for quad core?

it's a shame because i really want to use mediaportal, lifeview's own program sucks
