hi guys, over the weekend i put together a HTPC out of some old parts i had lying around gathering dust and im pretty happy with how it turned out except i have a few issues im not sure about how to fix so i was hoping some kind person could help shed some light on my situation.

my install of mediaportal went fine and i have put some videos (avi's h.264 and iso) on the htpc to test but when i select a video and press enter the screen goes black and i get sound but no video, then if i press escape to go back to the menu i can see the video playing in the little "preview/thumbnail box" so i press enter on the video again and then it shows. that is my first problem.

my second problem is at any given point the video im playing (happened to different video's/different formats) the movie will just freeze but iirc mediaportal has not frozen and i can go back but it won't start from were it froze.

so has anyone got any idea about how to fix my problems?

any advice welcome. cheers Eighty7

A couple of things you could try.

Download the PowerDVD8 trial, this will allow you to use that as codec of choice for mpeg, or try https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/offtopic-57/stand-alone-filters-htpc-44614/.

Open MP config, top right hand corner, button to switch to expert mode, you can now see a menu "directshow filters", try disabling under vmr9 "exclusive mode", if that does not work try switching to EVR as renderer (.net3 rqd).

If all above done already, let us know.

    and Welcome to MP
