video icons stopped working (1 Viewer)

Is there a known reason why icons for new videos should stop working at some point? I have several recorded videos (~200), and until recently,, each one would have an icon displayed when viewing the list (using either the view icons or big icons options). Now each new video icon is all black.
Can't imagine doing anything that would cause this.
I suppose I could set up a new dummy list of videos in order to get logs -- just wondering if there is a known easy fix.

No, not an easy fix that I know of.

Here are some log files, produced as follows:
Start with 3 simple video clips
copy them multiple times (over 100 copies)
error log to debug
start MP
go directly to videos - display is 3 good icons and 3 black ones
stop MP
compress logs and attach

I hope this is useful -- it was the quickest way I could think of to show the problem.
( with only the original and one copy of each, 6 good icons were displayed

wow. MP 1.3 that is indeed an oldie...
I assume that you go to the videos section here:

but after that I don't see any thumbs-related logging, so I'm really not sure what happens or should happen...

Btw. you added 100 videos and only see 6 icons?

Are the icons generated on every Videos section visit, or once at MP startup?
Any suggestion about what might provide more useful info?

Icons are cached here: C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\Thumbs\Videos
So probably emptying that folder wil trigger the issue

Don't know why - but those extra copies I made disappeared. Only 6 mp4 files are in the directory.
(maybe W7 'knows' that extra copies aren't needed?)

Well - I looked at the specified folder. It contained 13,755 jpegs -- none of which I recognized at a quick look,
I cleared the folder --- now all 6 icon are black. I restored the folder content -- all 6 still blank.
Tried restarting MP, and W7 then MP. Still all black.

I think there must be something I need to do to trigger regeneration --- what would that be?

Well, clearing the thumbs\videos folder did the trick at my system.
I did see a number of VideoThumbCreator lines in mediaportal.log when I cleared that folder.
Do note that the preview of longer videos is taken at about 1 minute 3 seconds, so if it's black at that time you'll get a black preview...
If you can clear out that folder, start mediaportal and browse to your videos folder, thumbs should popup after a while.
And if you can then send me your mediaportal.log (or put it in this thread) I can analyze it and answer some more questions (hopefully)
