Hi guys,
Trying to set up a htpc and i'm running into a few problems displaying the videos properly. I am using my old desktop to try to accomplish this. I have it connected to two displays, 1) 20" CRT via VGA 2) 51" Sony HD RPTV via DVI. I can set the graphics to Clone my CRT to my HDTV, at 1280x720p 60hz. My CRT doesn't love the resolution, but it works. My TV has some overscan, but not as much as when it is set to 1080i. I did have it displaying videos properly, but now when i play a movie from HD it will only display when aspect ratio is Original, which doesn't fill screen at all (with only 480p movie on 720p screen). I need some help, because i've changed so many settings I've gotten lost on what has and hasn't been tried. Can you guys help me list out some posibilities of setting to try? Also, when i view TV it displays fine in the preview window, but when i go to fullscreen, it is just black (much like when i'm playing a movie in a stretch other than Original).

:D

different video driver

tried an earlier video driver 6.5. Before updating to the latest software and driver it seemed to work slightly better. Any idea where to find old ATi drivers, or which ones have reported to work the best?

I have almost the same issue like guys mentioned above. Some movies are not shown in "stretch" aspect ratio. I also get sometime suttering in liveTV in "stretch" asp. rat. while all others works well. I have same config like aakins (1280x720@60 over DVI) but im using nVIDIA GFX (7900GS). Tried other codecs and drivers without any luck...

BTW. Im using one of the latest SVNs.. and there is nothing weird in logs.. ;|

i am able to view the shows fullscreen now. I'm not positive what made it work, but its still a little buggy. First I uninstalled MP, DELETED the folder in C:\Program Files\. Then after reinstalling, sometimes it doesn't work correct just after starting MP, so after starting a video I ESC to the main menu, hit the "b" key to stop the video, then go back to the videos, or tv section to start the video back. Then everything works.

Hope this helps.

Same problem on 0.2.3

My HTPC worked fine, until I rebooted it this morning

Suddenly, it can't change aspect ratio's anymore.

If I start TV, it only works in 'original' aspect ratio. (in other aspect ratio's I get sound but no (black) image)
If I start a DivX movie, then it works ok ('normal' aspect ratio)
If I then switch back to TV I can use the other aspect ratio's

Next I watched a DVD, this DVD had a short video before the main title with a copyright message in another aspect ratio. The main video is widescreen, the copyright part is 4:3. When the copyright start, the stream changes from 16:10 to 4:3, the screen goes black and does not recover.
So, it looks like any change in aspect ratio kills the video output , even if it is part of the video stream.
