Sigh..

I've scoured the forums for the last 3 days looking for something similar, but my keywords are too generic (video flickering)

Everything was working great until I received my new surround system (Onkyo TX-SR606).
Then I decided to install it, and update MP to 1.0.0.0 RC1.

Note that since the problems occurred, I took out the AVR and did direct from PC to TV via HDMI as before, and still experience the same problem.
I also just upgraded to RC2, and still experiencing the problem..
I also un-installed all codecs, and followed Goose's codec guide...

Still, I have this problem below...

Any video I play now (both mpg2/divx and mkv/h264 encoded) has continuous flickering... to the point that I feel like I'm going to have a seizure or something.. within MP. Audio is perfectly fine still.

If I play the videos outside of MP, using MediaPlayer Classic, or SMPlayer, they work perfectly fine.

MPEG2 Codec: MPV Decoder
H264 Codec: ffdshow and CoreAVC
Audio: ffdshow
Audio device: Default direct sound

Graphedit for the divx file in question...
Haali Media Splitter (AR)
- Vid -> ffdshow Video Decoder -> Video Renderer
- Aud -> ffdshow Audio Decoder -> Default DirectSound Device

Log and error files attached for one instance I tried..

Can anyone suggest anything to try...??

I would try uninstalling ATI graphics driver, using driver sweeper to clean out any leftovers and then reinstall.

This sounds like it is the way your graphics involving dx9 are handling the video, so a setting when you altered the sound output within the Windows\ATI driver has screwed things up, this is at a guess, as i take it these are the only things you have altered to get your new sound system working.

I will try that.. i think I'm due to update my drivers anyway...

however, I would point out that all the media players I try outside of MP (media player classic, smplayer, vlc) seem to display the video just fine.

Any other suggestions?

Yes i know the other players work, but none of them invoke directx like mediaportal does.

Nice one cured the exact same problem i had, i have been pulling my hair out with the same flickering.

Only diffrenece was i use nvidia 8200 onboard gpu but updated drivers worked like a charm Thanks.

Hmm.. okay.. so that fixed the non h264 video playback.. but I didn't realize it didn't help for h264... I even just downloaded and installed the trial version of powerdvd8 (for the hw accelerated codec), but it's still flickering...

Look, I have no problem with H264 videos, so maybe could try to reinstall CoreAVC, the only difference is that I use a NVidia video card
