video stuttering on client pc (1 Viewer)

I transferred my Timeshift folder back onto my G: where I have recorded TV. This has made a big improvement. However I attempted to record channel 4 HD, then watch it live on the TV server and also on the client (which id expect to work as I have enough feeds etc) and I ran into problems. The client froze up and I had to reset both the TV server and client. Also whenever HD seems to be streaming to my client, it affects the quality on my TV server PC.

Not sure what to try

Plug sata cable into different data controller. Use different colour with each drive. I personally use a ram drive for time shift. If single drive Your HDD may not cope with steam and record or steam and time shift at same time.

Ok,

Well im going to re-install everything from scratch tonight as ive been tweaking and messing around with my TV server settings for a while and may have messed something up unexpectadly.

After some help though..

1) I have 2 computers in my house. The PC with all the tuner cards fitted, all the HDD...etc is in my Lounge PC. When i installed MP, i chose 'standalone' then installed the client software onto my bedroom PC. The bedroom PC is literally a Windows 7 64 Bit machine with a graphics card, SSD and ethernet adaptor. Is this the correct way to install MP?

2) MyWith the setup listed above, I have 8 satellite tuners in my 'Lounge PC' running TV server. In theory, if i select a channel to record a program, could i then watch the same channel live TV on both my Lounge PC (TV Server) and Bedroom (client) PC? without any juddering?

3) My PC's are connected via a network switch using CAT6 FTP cables. Would my system function better using a single crossover cable between my Lounge PC and Bedroom PC?

3 probably not. unless there is something wrong with your switch. regular 100mbit via switch should be fast enough

So...how does timeshift work with multiple clients? If you are watching the same channel on across 2 clients are timeshift files created for each client? Or do they interact?

Im just trying to work out why when i moved my timeshift folder to the same as my 'recorded tv' it massively reduced stutter.

Also does timeshift folder need to be set to shared on a network?

if same channel i think they share same timeshift file. only 90% sure.

maybe it was cpincedence and spmething else changed . maybe original folder was on a slow 5400 green hdd or a hdd that was busy with other tasks. i can only guess. i use ram drive. i think even 1gb can be enough if u don't need a really long pause and rewind period. i have 4gb ram drive. details in wiki
