Same issue here using nvidia fx5200 128mb

when using direct x mode it fixes tearing issue but freezes media portal after a few min....so i just live with the tearing as its not too bad for what i use mp for.

I previously had a radeon 9200 and it worked better (under 2.0.0 rc4) than the nvidia card despite being a non direct x card. only upgraded after 2.0.0 came out as the radeon was showing its limitations then.

update: latest nvidia drives lets me use direct x mode without crashing so far

Whenever you upgrade/install new drivers, make sure you use a driver cleaner to remove all the old files from your system.
that guarantees there can be no conflict between old/new driver settings which may remain on the system and screw it up.

My current situ is that the MP video codec seems to look better on tv, (not the image quality but the movement), I think it seems to deinterlace better. My preferred deinterlacing would be bob double frame rate, (ie at 50hz) but I don't see how/if that option is available.

However the MP codec ignores the anamorphic flag in tv stream and causes the GUI to run really slowly as if the GUI is using 100%cpu, so is unseable for me. Hence I use purevideo which has low cpu so GUI is snappy, but deinterlacing for tv isn't too good. Maybe there's a way to improve it?

Are people still having this problem? I'm, getting what i think is tearing on interlaced 576i and 1080i material. I'm using Purevideo on a 6800gt running nVidia 94.24 drivers and MP 2.3.0 rc1

I found that i only get the problem when i select nVidia Purevideo as codec. The other choices work fine.

The problem is not the driver/codec/etc. the problem is with MP for sure. Using ZoomPlayer, Media Player Classic, Windows Media Player, TVedia, etc, etc... picture is smooth, no tearing ... I hope that devs could solve it soon...
