    Attached is the patched binary.
Since this is a quick hack, the behaviour is not configurable in this version. It never checks for ar but only matches the height and width to find a suitable rule ;)

gemx, could you possibly also show us what your settings are for this fantastic plugin please?

    Hi!

Looks like a good plugin, but I have a couple of questions.

    1. What if the broadcast is in 16:9 in 4:3 full frame? The picture should be stretched.
    2. Is there available any file for the "import setting"?
    3. How should I configure the plugin, when I have 1920x1080 resolution in my tv? I'd like to have always the original aspect ratio. So 4:3 should be with sidebars. And every other aspect ratio should be zoomed to fit the width.

    Thanks!

I'm also very interested in these answers. Especially Q3.

As i said, the ar is not detected on my setup - just the width and height.
Therefore my rules don't include ar settings - so i think i can't help with these questions

Ok no problem gemx. My setup using the original build which does detect AR seems to be working very well at the moment :). Very pleased with it! Another feature which should have always been as standard :). Great job so far!

    Hi everybody. Hi gemx.

gemx: Thanks for your patch. I will try to find some time during the next week(s) to implement it into the main code. Unfortunately my dev pc is brocken (most likely mainboard) right now... I would like to know why in your case the ar is not detected... normally (with a codec that supports it) it should receive the with and heigh from the mp player...

EViS: To detect left and right sidebars the plugin needs something like a pillarbox detection. Right now is does only check the top and bottom bars (letterbox). Even with a normal SD content this letterbox detection is already kind of CPU intensive, because of this I'm not sure how well a detection on HD content makes sense... Also there is the problem that MP does not provide a meaningful zoomode for pillarbox content...

    Bye
    Lars

lkuech: Are you answering somebody else there? I'm not aware of having any problem with the plugin and/or additional feature requests...

    Uups... ;) You're right.

I guess I was confused because you quoted a post by "byfly" who was asking about this topic ...

Good to hear that you are pleased with the plugin :)

    Bye

    Hi lkuech,

First of all, great plugin. This really helps me from manually switch between zoom and stretch mode:)

I use only dutch analog channels and they only stream at 720x576 for 4:3 and 16:9. So I have to use the letterbox detection.

I only have the problem that sometimes the letterbox detection thinks that there is a letterbox but on the screen it's not. You can see that in the Dr Phill show I'm trying to play in the log attached.

I have a hard time to understand how the settings of the letterbox detection works. Let me explain what I understand of it and what not and what I think it is:)

The Upper box is the top black bar, the lower box is the down black bar. I don't understand why there is a center box, because you have only to scan the top and down bar. Then you have made % settings for Width, Height and StartPos. These settings I have copied from your first post, but why do you have Width? With my own logic you scan only the height of of black bar over the full width of the screen. if there is something other then black in it, you have a letterbox. The StartPos I don't understand either. Is it that you begin scanning for the top bar with 1% from the top of the screen and 92% from the top for the down bar?

I hope you can help me.

When I was thinking about my post I write yesterday, I thought about the widthsettings. I changed it to 75 % for the Upper box and for the Lower box. In a quick glance it seems to be ok now.

It is still a bit fuzzy for me though. So if you can clear my confusion about those settings it would be nice:)
