I don´t think that the database view is worth all the effort that you have to put into it to get the thing you want. this is especially true when it comes to tv-series, although the myTVseries plugin is coming along veery nicely..
If you don´t keep files for long, or have the time and energy to do the whole "adding them to the database"-procedure, a solution like the one i mentioned in my previous post is really simple and effective.
I for one don´t think that the database view can replace the files-view.
