Hi Eabin, when using the TV server, I get no picture at all in "My TV" using this dll. I haven't had a chance to try any previous ones. Logs are attached

Hi Simone, I was saying that I can't make any changes to that section because it would impact too many people. I'll look at bumping up the quality a little bit, and i'll let you know. I'll post the mpeg soon.

What about putting a configuration param that will allow users to choice between three predefined values: low, medium and high quality?

This will not break things for most users but will allow others to improve their video quality isn't it ?

Thanks in advance for considering this as an option.

    Simone

I'm using vista w/aero, when I enable EVR I get jitter arout 20 !! Without evr enabled jitter is usually around 0-3. Wasn't EVR supposed to reduce jitter ? I have a ATi X1600 gfx card.

about the jitter: don't believe what you read, believe what you see. the value reported by me as jitter is actually something different :)

edit: diehard2: if you are talking about deinterlacing options, AFAIK you cannot set them via EVR anymore. you have to change the settings either in the filter properties or in the settings of your display driver. well, nvidia doesn't yet support any settings besides Inverse Telecine :)

hm, there is something going wrong here. your logfiles state 25/09 as date? also, vmr9.log contains lines that are no longer being written to the logfile. are you sure you are using the correct dll?

For some reason, I can't get EVR to become enabled on my Vista 32bit install to run anything besides VMR9 (outside WMP11, which runs EVR just fine). I've replaced the DLL of 0.2.3 RC3 with the one on the first page of this thread, loaded the EVR filter in the movies section along with VSfilter, and ticked the box 'Use EVR' in the DS filter contol of the MP config. I simply can't get any videos to load and begin playing. I've only tried AVI and MKV files, but that should be enough to tell me something's wrong with the filter chain.

If I remove EVR from post-processing field of the movies config, the videos play just fine, but VMR9 is used. I know there must be something simple I'm overlooking, so looking to the experts here. Thanks...

first of all, there is no need to cross-post your issues in different threads.

second, just because the properties box looks the same as the one from VMR9 doesn't mean that EVR is not being used. i didn't care about the properties box yet, maybe i will check if it is possible to show the full-featured dialog.

i know that the naming of the filter in graphedit is wrong, but that's just a name. this will be fixed sometime. also, as evr is no postprocessor, it makes no sense loading it as one. this will only break your playback (as you might have noticed :))

you should see the difference in the visual quality quite easily, and if you try to play a demanding 1080p file (and have an appropriate graphics card), you should see that EVR is enabled by looking at your CPU usage.

and finally, the third thing to check is your vmr9.log. you will see a very different output there too, if you are using EVR instead of VMR9.

OK, thanks. I didn't spot this "EVR thread #2" until after I posted in "EVR thread #1". Your OP in this thread stated that EVR talk should go into this thread from now on, so I posted here too for future EVR noobs like myself. Perhaps that thread ought to be closed or linked to this thread now?

Indeed, the logs are different and the picture is greatly improved from VMR9.
