Hi All

Just switched to Vista Business 32bit got most things working, but I have a couple of issues to iron out.

1. When deleting TV shows I get a pause of around 2-3 seconds while the GUI is unresponsive, is this a common issue or just me? In formatting the partition I used a higher than normal block size (either 512 or 1024) would that make a difference.

2. When entering and exiting fullscreen video i.e. starting TV the GUI disappears for a few seconds (and the desktop is visible) while it loads, any ideas on this one would be appreciated.

Thanks Mark

I can answer 2...

2. You should choose EVR as Video Rendere under Vista. What you described is typical for VMR9 in Vista, as far as my experience counts. In the Configuration go into Directshow Filter Controle, submenu Video Renderer Settings. Select EVR.

A few SVN versions ago, there was a major step forward in support for EVR when FFWD and RWD were enhanced. Before this, they used to make time skips, now you really see the fast forward. If you find it does not work 100% like you'd like with EVR, you can try one of the latest SVNs or simply wait for RC1 to come out... any time soon now. Check the homepage.

Hi Furetto

Thanks that worked, only problem is I now get tearing and fwd&rwd doesn't work as you suggested above (14-04-08 SVN). Looks like VMR is the lesser of two evils!

I never had any tearing with my setup (nvidia 8600 with latest nvidia drivers), in fact I get the feeling the image quality is better with EVR than VRM (very subjective of course).

The FFWD and RWD issue was no show-stopper for me and got resolved after installing one of the SVN versions of the beginning of the month. I use PowerDVD codecs, that could play a role.

Right now I'd suggest you wait a few more days until RC1 comes out. That way you'll have a (relatively) stable version to try with.

As for your first question, I have no clue. I never noticed anything similar. My computer parts are quite high-end, that certainly helps.

Its no problem, both issues are managable, I wouldn't expect it to be my components as they're also pretty high end (listed in specs).

I'll wait for RC1 and try it again.
