Operating System Vista Home basic = bad ? (1 Viewer)

I'm looking @ a couple of ION system to use as a extra client for my MP server. Now the one with Vista Home Basic is about half the price of the one with W7 home prem.

I've looked at the comparison on MS site, and I see that the basic does not support Aero and have som network limitations.

Wouldn't that limit HW acc video ? I think I remember having some problems with tearing and lack of HW acc when disabling Aero on Vista (with my ATi), anyone know if this is the case with ION ? Since it's just a MP frontend client, I rather not spend twice the money if it's not needed. But I use it for both live HDTV (and maybe some mkv)

Due to the lack of multimedia support, and the ability to install them if you wanted, would not advise anyone to buy the "basic" version of windows, don't care how cheap it is compared to the working multimedia versions, it will cost you your hair\patience trying to get things to work.
