I just bought a Philips Vista MCE remote wich came with this IR receiver. I bought it at ebay for a new MP system I'm creating for my parents, but I've tested it with the system in the specs below (with the other remote/receiver disabled). I plugged in the receiver, and it was instantly 'recognized' (without any notification) by XP. 'Recognized' because device manager lists is a standard keyboard (HID toetsenbordapparaat in Dutch, which literally translates to HID keyboarddevice). Some of the keys of the remote are working just fine (arrows, digits, play/pauze/etc, enter/esc/mute/etc. The power button shuts the computer down. Sadly, the typical MCE buttons don't work. I've literally googled for hours to find info and fix this, however I've failed. I've tried the replacement MCE drivers, but because the receiver is only listed as a standard keyboard (not as a USB device...
) I can't update the drivers (updating the 'keyboard' drivers didn't work). Tried Girder: didn't work. Tried another PC with XP_SP2 and MP 0.2.2.0, and the result was just the same.
My configuration in MP: 'MCE remote' and 'Use general HID device' switched on. Without that HID option the arrows still work, but the play/pauze/etc. button's don't.
So, does anyone know how to get the entire remote working?
Why was I dumb enough to buy MCE equipment for XP? Watch the ebaypage-> it was listed as XP/Vista. The Philips links weren't supplied (not even the fact that the manufacturer is Philips). I asked another buyer and he faced the exact same problems I have, but he has Win XP MCE (he has only tested for a short time)
