I'm looking for a way to enable standby with good WAF. With XP it was easy, just push "Power TV" on MCE remote and PC went to sleep. However, because with Vista this is not supported, what would be the easiest way to make PC go to standby? My PC is set to sleep after 15 minutes of idling, so I thought solution would be to push "start" button on the remote in order to go to the home screen and wait. Unfortunately this does not work, as if TV is turned on it is shown on a small PIP screen and PC will not go to standby. One has to manually first turn MP's TV off which is a bit of a hassle.

Mostly, I let the sleeptimer put MP to sleep if its running, this does seem to work very well, combined with a power socket, that recognises the drop in electrical consumption and turns TV\audio off as well :)

    1) start (MCE button)
    2) press stop if tv running

btw. my wife doesn't see it as a hasle. One extra button press shouldn't be too hard for anyone :p Also such use case has been working without any single issues on Vista over a year already.

I programmed red button on the remote control to activate "standby windows" command on MediaPortal. However my PC doesn't seem to wake up for scheduled recordings after that (it worked with XP). Also I haven't yet been able to get MPStandbyHandler to kill MP before standby and restart it when resuming (this also worked with XP).

    Will try your tips.
