VMR9 Exclusive Mode Checked = Tearing, Unchecked = No Tearing? (1 Viewer)

Hi all,

If VMR9 Exclusive Mode is checked, I get tearing in TV, DVD and all videos. If I uncheck it, it goes away. It's a fresh install of XP with TV3 and MediaPortal client. I have only PowerDVD 7.3 Ultra with latest patch + CCCP codec pack installed. I have a list

I have two other clients in the network with exactly same software setup, and neither of them has this problem.

I had it running for 3 months with this problem, then I did something and the problem appeared. Today I decided to reinstall everything to get rid of the issue, but I was confused when it didn't!

The only difference to the other working clients is that I have TV3, capture cards and TV out instead of DVI.

The reason why I want to fix it is because I read that using exclusive mode is better for smooth playback.

Make sure that your display refresh rate is is set to multiple of the source material frames per second value (for PAL it would be 50/75/100hz). Most likely the tv out is forcing the display adapter to use 50hz refresh rate.

Thank you tourettes, but I tried changing resolutions and refresh rates to every thing available on the TV out, with no luck. This is happening with all types of videos (24fps, 25fps and 30fps). I'm going to connect it to an lcd monitor to eliminate one unclear concern if TV is causing this to happen.

I forgot to mention that I've applied the following as well:

Try to set vsync to always on in your Forceware settings. You may want to try other drivers and also read this: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/..._other_programs-t9568p2.html?&highlight=vsync.

Thanks mate, turning vsync on did the trick, I also replied to your other post above.

One thing I don't understand is why unticking "VMR9 Exclusive Mode" also fixes it? Oh well, at lease its working now the way it should

Sorry to dig up an old topic, but I had the same problem as well.

The difference being I am using an Ati Radeon 2400XT HD video card and playing it back on a Multisystem TV. At 1024x768 it uses (only) 60hz, but at 800x600 I have the option to use 56hz as well. Using the latest 9.7 Catalyst drivers.

Having Exclusive Mode (Of Video Mixing Renderer 9) turned on in the Video Renderer Settings of Media Portal 1.0.2.0 gives me tearing in the video. Use For Playback Of Web Streams - Use Nonsquare Mixing For Scaling are both turned on. Using Gausion Quad Filtering as well. Turning off Exclusive Mode solves the Tearing problem.

I have no idea if VSync is on or not, or where I can find out actually.

Using the Enchanced Video Rendere actually slows the video down, while the Audio is on time.

Running all this on a fresh XP SP3 installation.
