Hey I think I just solved this issue for me,
it seems that something in the handling of subtitle changed, there for I tried and checked "Load when needed" in the VOBSub settings.
Et voila: Subtitle ANDd Xvid files are working again....

But the subtitles default to always ON instead of OFF which was the norm pre 1.0.1. Is anyone able to get them to default OFF?

Did anyone ever get this to work properly? After a fair amount of effort I was able to get subtitles to display again after updating to MediaPortal 1.0.1 (using a combination of vobsub settings and a few checkboxes in the MP settings, I would have to look at the installation to determine precisely how I did this). However, now they are always 'enabled' by default. Like other posters I would prefer that the default is ALWAYS disabled with the option to still enable them from within MediaPortal if need be.
